A luxury SUV veered off the road and crashed into a high-voltage electricity pole in the Battaramulla area, according to Talangama Police.
Police investigations have revealed that the accident occurred when the driver, travelling from Colombo towards Pannipitiya, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to run off the road.
The impact of the crash also caused a power outage in the area.
The driver has been admitted to a private hospital in Thalawathugoda.
The incident was captured on a Dashcam mounted on another vehicle travelling behind the SUV
