A woman has been shot dead by her husband following a domestic dispute in Madagama Police Division.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 14. Police received a report that a woman had been found lying near the Balagasara road with gunshot injuries.
A team of officers was dispatched to the scene, and the woman was rushed to hospital. However, doctors confirmed that she had already succumbed to her injuries.
The victim has been identified as a 38-year-old resident of Makandawinna, Madagama.
Initial investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out using a locally manufactured firearm. The suspect had fled the area following the incident.
