The Sri Lanka Railway Guards Association says it will launch a 48-hour trade union action this week based on long-standing unresolved administrative issues.
The association stated that the relevant authorities have been informed of the issues.
As such, the association said it will launch a symbolic strike from midnight on Friday, the 20th of June.
Issuing a statement, the association outlined the following reasons for the trade union action;
- Delays in recruitment for the District Transport Inspector (Transport/Commercial) position
- Delays in granting promotions in the Special Regulatory Class
- Unresolved salary issues in the Special Regulatory Class
- Delays in conducting departmental investigations
- Delays in granting efficiency bar concessions
- Failure to appoint employees to certain offices
- Pending requests related to welfare activities
- Seeking approval to implement the promotion system used for the Sri Lanka Technological Service in the Regulatory position
- Requesting another opportunity to apply for the Sri Lanka Administrative Service. (Newswire)
