For the third time in recent days, the National People’s Power (NPP) has secured a local council chairman post through a tie-break draw—this time at the Soronathota Pradeshiya Sabha.
Both the NPP and the rival side received 8 votes each in the chairman election. With no clear winner, a draw of lots was held, resulting in the NPP councillor being selected as chairman.
This marks the third such lucky break for the NPP, following similar tie-break victories at the Madagama and Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabhas.
All three draws have gone in favour of the NPP (Newswire)
