Bail granted, But Keheliya & family members remanded for missing bail conditions

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his wife, and daughter, arrested by the Bribery Commission over asset inquiries, were granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. However, they failed to meet the bail conditions—Rs. 50,000 cash and nine sureties of Rs. 5 million each—and were subsequently remanded.

Two journalists to be questioned over Ishara Sewwandi report

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali has summoned two journalists to the Crimes Division following their article claiming murder suspect Ishara Sewwandi left Sri Lanka undetected. Sewwandi, alleged to have supplied the weapon used in the February courthouse shooting of underworld figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa, remains at large.

SL Air Force unit completes UN rescue mission in Central Africa

On June 14, the Sri Lanka Air Force’s UN aviation unit conducted a casualty evacuation in the Central African Republic, retrieving three wounded UN personnel from Zemio using an Mi‑17 helicopter in hostile conditions. The mission was led by Wing Commander Ishan Thibbotumunuwe.
