The railway strike that was scheduled to begin at midnight today has been suspended.

According to the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Railway Guards Association, the decision was reached after a discussion with the General Manager of Railways today.

The Sri Lanka Railway Guards Association had previously announced that it would launch a 48-hour trade union action from midnight on Friday (20 June).

Stating that the strike was to be conducted based on long-standing unresolved administrative issues, the association said the relevant authorities have been informed of the issues. (Newswire)
