Special traffic plan for Global Bohra Conference in Colombo

The Sri Lanka Police has announced special traffic arrangements in view of the Global Bohra Conference and Spiritual Convention scheduled to take place in Colombo from 27 June to 05 July 2025. 

The Police said special traffic plans will be implemented from 07.00 am to 10.00 pm in view of the event, which is expected to draw approximately 15,000 participants from several countries. 

The event, which coincides with the Bohra Community’s annual Spiritual Assembly, will be conducted at the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), presided over by the global Bohra Community’s spiritual leader.

The Police said thereby, from 27 June to 05 July, special traffic arrangements will be implemented near the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque, restricting traffic along the Marine Drive from 07.00 am to 11.30 am and from 03.00 pm to 10.00 pm for certain vehicles.

As such, heavy vehicles such as lorries, containers, and tipper trucks will be restricted from travelling from Wellawatte to Colpetty Junction via Marine Drive and vice versa, during this period. 

The Police further said that vehicles can enter Marine Drive through Glen Arbour Road in Bambalapitiya, while Adamaly Place will be restricted to residents. (Newswire)
