Bus fare reduction halted as Fuel Prices Increase

A scheduled 2.5% reduction in bus fares set to take effect from today has been suspended, the National Transport Commission (NTC) announced, citing fuel price increase as the reason.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation raised fuel prices last night, with auto diesel increasing by Rs. 15, prompting the NTC to reassess the fare structure.

“The previously announced 2.5% fare reduction will not be implemented today. A revised fare structure will be announced later today after reviewing the impact of fuel price changes,” NTC spokesman said. (Newswire)
