The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned National Freedom Front Leader and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa to appear before its Special Investigations Unit 4 tomorrow (July 9) at 9:00 a.m.
The summons relates to a complaint regarding the alleged release of 323 containers imported to the Port of Colombo without proper inspection by Sri Lanka Customs.
According to the notice, Weerawansa has been called to provide a statement based on comments he made at a media briefing held on January 29, 2025, concerning the matter. (Newswire)
