Southern Expressway to undergo renovation after 14 years

The Southern Expressway is set for development for the first time in 14 years, with the first phase covering the stretch from Dodangoda to Kottawa.

Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake stated that maintaining expressways to ensure safe travel is a key government priority. The renovation will be carried out using revenue generated from the expressway itself, without relying on state budget allocations.

The Road Development Authority (RDA) will oversee the project, which aims to modernize and preserve infrastructure for improved long-term use. (Newswire)
