With India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh postponed, discussions are underway about the possibility of a limited overs series between Sri Lanka and India in mid-August.
The postponement of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), originally set for July-August, has further cleared the calendar for Sri Lanka, creating a rare window where both teams are available.
While no official confirmation has been made, sources indicate that both boards are exploring the feasibility of a short bilateral series—possibly featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.
India was not originally scheduled to tour Sri Lanka this year, with the focus being on the Bangladesh series, which is now pushed back.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, is due to leave for Zimbabwe in late August, with the series there starting on August 29. This makes mid-August the only viable period for hosting India.
The two sides last faced off in Sri Lanka in July 2023, where India won the T20I series and Sri Lanka claimed the ODI leg. (Newswire)
