Sri Lanka’s national boys’ and girls’ gymnastics teams are set to take part in the 5th GYM FOR LIFE World Gymnastics Challenge – the largest non-competitive gymnastics event in the world – which begins on July 22 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The 29-member boys’ team, along with two coaches and officials, departed on July 19, while the girls’ team is scheduled to leave today.
Organised by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the event takes place every four years and brings together gymnasts from all over the world. This year’s edition will see a record 3,729 participants, making it the biggest gymnastics gathering of the year outside the Olympic Games.
Unlike traditional competitions, GYM FOR LIFE focuses on large group performances that showcase creativity, teamwork, and the joy of movement. It is a platform for athletes who may not compete at the Olympics but are passionate about gymnastics and performance.
The Sri Lankan teams will perform under the national flag, joining thousands of international participants at this inspiring international festival that celebrates inclusion and the universal spirit of gymnastics.
