The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber-level weather alert for strong winds affecting multiple regions of Sri Lanka due to active southwest monsoonal conditions.
Winds ranging between 55–60 kmph are expected at times across the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, and Central provinces, and in the districts of Puttalam, Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota.
Elsewhere across the island, fairly strong winds between 40–50 kmph are also expected.
The public is advised to remain alert for falling trees and debris, take precautions to secure loose roofing materials, and stay updated with future advisories. (Newswire)
