A foreign national has been arrested with a stock of drugs valued at approximately Rs. 400 million at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early this morning (25), officials said.
The 52-year-old Canadian national, a resident of Ontario, was apprehended by officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division while attempting to pass through the airport’s Green Channel.
He had reportedly transported the narcotics from Canada and arrived in Sri Lanka via Doha, Qatar.
Upon inspection of his luggage, authorities recovered 12.196 kilograms of hashish and 5.298 kilograms of cocaine. (Newswire)
