The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the circulation of documents allegedly issued in the name of the Acting Inspector General of Police and spread via WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
The Police issuing a communique said a fraudulent PDF document impersonating official police communication was shared widely from the following email addresses:
judicial.gov-srilanka@execs.com
polcermp@gmail.com
andrep.atricia885@gmail.com
ecowastaxs@gmail.com
ccybermp@gmail.com
vinicarvalh08@hotmail.com
Police confirmed that none of these email addresses are affiliated with the Sri Lanka Police or any government official.
