A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development and the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) to introduce a course to develop entrepreneurs across Sri Lanka.

The Small Enterprise Development Division (SEDD) under the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development has organized a series of Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP) for this purpose.

As the first phase, a flagship project to transform Western Province Development Officers (DO) and Entrepreneurship Development Training Officers (EDTO) into the country’s best business advisors under the designation “Relationship Officers” was launched today (29) at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), presided over by Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Chaturanga Abesinghe.

Accordingly, 53 selected officers from the Western Province received the opportunity to study this internationally valuable course. This program differs from ordinary employee training courses/degrees as it is a practical program based on “Learn by Doing” and “Learning through Experience.”

This course will primarily help develop their skills, abilities, and attitudes, through which they will be able to provide proper advisory services for developing small and medium-scale enterprises, which are considered the backbone of the country.

SLIM Institute expects to invest approximately Rs. 100 million for this program, with the first phase being conducted free of charge by the faculty. Accordingly, SLIM Institute has allocated Rs. 40 million for this first program.

Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Secretary Tilaka Jayasundara, SLIM Institute Chairman Professor Devasiri Jayantha, Small Business Development Division Director Manoj Priyantha, and other officials participated in the event. (Newswire)
