Atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for evening thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central, Uva and Eastern provinces in the next few days, according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces after 1.00 pm today.
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places. A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly strong winds of about 40 kmph can be expected at times over the Southern province.
Meanwhile, light showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle.
