President Anura Kumara Dissanayake engaged with the Sri Lankan community residing in the Maldives during a special event held at the Maldives National University yesterday (30).
During the meeting, which took place during the recent visit to the Maldives, the President had informed the Sri Lankan community that the country was moving away from a culture of corrupt politics and the government was instead building a new political culture.
“I assured them that we are committed to upholding the trust they have placed in us. I explained that we are moving away from a culture of corrupt politics and instead building a new political culture, steadily guiding the country’s broken economy towards stability and ensuring equal enforcement of the law for all,” he said.
In a post on social media, the President further said, “I also expressed my gratitude to the Sri Lankans in the Maldives who contributed to the recent election victories, and invited them to join hands in the effort to build a prosperous nation”.
