The Supreme Court has decided to dismiss, without hearing, two fundamental rights petitions requesting an order to nullify seven memoranda of understanding signed between the Governments of Sri Lanka and India.

This order was issued by a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Achala Wengappuli and Priyantha Fernando, following an extensive review of the facts.

The petitions had been submitted by a group, including Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara and the ‘Vinivida Foundation’.

The seven MoUs were inked between India and Sri Lanka, covering several key sectors, including energy, digitalization, defence, healthcare, and development assistance during Indian Premier Modi’s visit to the island in April. (Newswire)
