Senior journalist Daya Lankapura has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Right to Information Commission.
The appointment comes nearly five months after the position fell vacant, during which several civil society groups, media organisations, and activists urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to make an appointment to ensure the smooth functioning of the Commission.
Lankapura, a veteran in the media industry, has served in various senior editorial roles and has been actively involved in promoting media freedom and the right to information in Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
