The grand opening of the inaugural showroom of GAC by Automobile Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., was held on 22nd July at the prestigious Colombo City Centre premises, leading Sri Lanka to a new era of innovation, elegance and electric mobility.
The event, which marked the reveal of Sri Lanka’s first ever GAC Aion EV City Store, was held with many distinguished guests, such as the Director of Automobile Technologies, Mr. Chandri Jayathilake, as well as the iconic musical duo, Mr. Bathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman as the brand ambassadors of GAC Sri Lanka.
Representing the brand, the iconic musical duo stated that their own values align with the brand, which has already established itself as a giant among others in China as well as in over 30 other countries. The GAC Group, a fully state-owned Fortune Global 500 company, also has ongoing contract manufacturing and design partnerships with other automobile giants Hyundai, Toyota, Honda and Hino, establishing itself with strong roots among other global automobile giants.
The GAC Aion range comes in three variations, with Aion V, Aion Y and Aion ES, starting at just Rs. 14 Mn. The Aion range also comes with an eight-year or 160,000Km bumper-to-bumper warranty on the vehicle and an eight-year or 200,000Km warranty on the battery.
The GAC brand was welcomed into Sri Lanka at the EV motor show held at BMICH, and has managed to establish a firm footprint as the pioneer of electric mobility revolution in Sri Lanka, owing to the tireless efforts of Automobile Technologies (Pvt) Ltd.
The City Store is expected to serve as a hub for experiencing, exploring and educating about clean mobility and electric vehicles, while enabling every single Sri Lankan for their next steps towards the same.
The event also saw a GAC Aion vehicle being symbolically handed over to its first ever customer by the brand ambassadors, the duo Bathiya and Santhush themselves.
