Former Councillor shot dead 

Police have recovered the vehicle used in the shooting that killed former Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha member Shantha Mudunkotuwa in Meegoda. CCTV footage showed a white car involved in the attack. Witnesses said Mudunkotuwa sought help at a nearby house after being shot but collapsed and died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Sri Lanka to explore floating solar power development

The Cabinet has approved plans to develop floating solar power projects under the 2026–2030 Renewable Energy Resources Development Plan, aiming to generate about 3,000 megawatts from selected reservoirs. Constitutional Council approves Priyantha Weerasooriya as Sri Lanka’s 37th IGP

The Constitutional Council has approved President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s nomination of Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya as Sri Lanka’s 37th Inspector General of Police.
