The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for rough seas and strong winds, urging the Naval and fishing communities to remain vigilant in this regard.
According to the Met Department, showers are likely at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
