A 15-year-old boy was reported dead after drowning in the Medaketiya tank in the Gokarella Police Division on Wednesday.
Police stated that the deceased teenager, originally from Habarana, had been living in a hostel affiliated with a private educational institute while pursuing the Advanced Level programme.
He, along with a group of friends, had visited the Medaketiya tank the previous evening to pick lotus flowers when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The Gokarella Police is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
