Sri Lanka Customs recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue in July, collecting 235 billion rupees, Director General Sunil Nonis said.

Speaking at the launch of a new customs record and notification system on Thursday, Nonis said the July revenue marked a historic milestone for the institution.

“In 2023, surpassing 100 billion rupees in a month was considered a major achievement. Today, we have reached 235 billion rupees,” he said.

The Director General noted that the new system was designed to improve convenience for importers and exporters, aiming to further strengthen the department’s performance.

Vehicle imports accounted for the bulk of the income, contributing significantly to the record revenue. (Newswire)
