Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will provide free legal services to victims of the online loan scheme, which he described as an illegal mafia.
“As the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, we raised our voices in Parliament when information about this online loan mafia first emerged a few years ago. As a result, the then-government took steps to bring forward new bills aimed at addressing the issue,” he said.
“However, this loan mafia is still operating in our country in a very harmful way,” he added, noting that ongoing economic difficulties have created conditions that allow such activities to continue.
He further stated that he has detailed information about the institutions involved in this online loan mafia and plans to set up a team of SJB lawyers to provide free legal assistance to affected individuals.
“By engaging our legal team, we will ensure that those involved in this illegal activity are held accountable. We assure all affected people not to worry; we will definitely come forward to help you,” he concluded. (NewsWire)
