Cabinet approval has been granted for the implementation of two projects for the development of some selected premises of the Pelwatte and Sevanagala sugar factories as tourist attractions.

According to the government, four selected places in the Pelwatte sugar factory premises have been identified as tourist attractions, drawing special attention to ecotourism, agrotourism, wellness tourism, and conservation-based tourism.

The sites have been recognized based on the recommendations of the feasibility study conducted by the Public-Private Partnership National Agency.

Furthermore, four places of the Sevanagala sugar factory have also been identified as sites that could be developed as tourist attractions.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the joint proposal presented by the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development to implement two projects under the Public-Private Partnership National Methods for this purpose.

Per the proposal, the selected areas of the Pelwatte sugar factory and the Sevanagala sugar factory, which are under Lanka Sugar (Pvt) Ltd, will be developed into tourist attractions. (Newswire)
