Sri Lanka Police have warned the public against a fake letter circulating on social media that falsely claims to be an official document issued by the Inspector General of Police and other senior officers.
Police said the letter, which carried forged names and signatures, was fabricated and deliberately spread online to mislead the public.
The Computer Crimes Division has launched an investigation to trace those responsible for creating and sharing the document.
In a statement, police urged the public not to be misled by unofficial material shared on social platforms and reiterated that all official police communications are issued only through recognized channels. (Newswire)
