A suspect has been arrested while transporting a stock of smuggled agrochemicals in Puttalam on Tuesday (19).
Strengthened naval security and intelligence led to the apprehension of the suspect in the Ethathalai area.
The operation was carried out by SLNS Vijaya of the Northwestern Naval Command.
Upon search of the suspicious lorry, a stock of agrochemicals, including pesticides and herbicides, was recovered.
The suspect, a 41-year-old resident of Thalawila, along with the lorry and the consignment of agrochemicals, has been handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for legal action. (Newswire)
