Atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for evening thundershowers in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces in the next few days, according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and Hambantota district after 1.00 pm today.
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in the above areas.
A Few Showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
