The arrest receipt issued to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe following his detention by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) states that he has been accused of committing offenses under Section 5(1) of the Public Property Act and Sections 386 and 388 of the Penal Code.
Wickremesinghe was arrested on August 22 over allegations of misusing state funds during a visit to London in 2023. He was later produced before court, with a ruling on his bail or remand expected. (Newswire)
