The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an order to the Police’s ‘Illegal Assets and Intellectual Property Investigation Unit’ to confiscate a property in Dematagoda linked to illegally acquired money.
According to the Police, a probe had been launched based on a complaint filed with the Illegal Assets and Intellectual Property Investigation Unit, claiming that an individual in Dematagoda had purchased the property using money acquired through drug peddling.
The multi-story building is located on Dematagoda Road in Colombo 09, and is estimated to be around Rs. 100 million.
The Police said an order had been sought from the court to confiscate the property to prevent its sale or transfer to another individual, which the court issued yesterday. (Newswire)
