Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, says the law is being applied equally to everyone, without discrimination.

Addressing the Parliament today, Minister Wijepala said that the law is being exercised in a fair manner at present.

“Whether it be a former IGP, former DIG, ministers, Parliamentarians, or even a former president, it does not matter anymore,” he said.

Minister Wijepala said that the government will not hesitate to bring before the law any person found to have been involved in wrongdoing.

His comment comes in the backdrop of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s arrest by the CID today.

Wickremesinghe has been arrested over the misuse of state funds for a private tour to the United Kingdom during his presidency. (Newswire)
