Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Rathnayake, questioned the stance of parliamentarians who criticized the arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, stressing that the law must apply equally to all citizens.
Speaking in Parliament today, Rathnayake noted that some members had argued that national leaders should not be subjected to arrest.
“The law must be equal to all. But now we hear people saying leaders cannot be arrested. What is this logic?” he asked, challenging those who opposed Wickremesinghe’s detention. (Newswire)
