Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody, has been transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo due to health concerns, prison authorities confirmed today.
Officials said the decision was taken after medical assessments indicated that his condition required specialist treatment unavailable at the prison hospital. Wickremesinghe, who was remanded yesterday, was initially admitted to the prison hospital citing several health complications.
The former president faces charges related to the alleged misuse of state funds during his tenure. (Newswire)
