Showers expected in a few areas today

Mainly fair weather is expected to prevail in most parts of Sri Lanka today, while showers are anticipated in some districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.

A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning. 

Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail in the sea areas around the island.

Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speeds can increase to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
