CCCline- Bikeathon is organized for the 12th consecutive year
1333 Bikeathon will kick off from Independence Square, as over 25 dedicated cyclists set off on a powerful mission—to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing. The first leg of the journey will take them from Colombo to Ahungalla, marking the start of a 13-day ride that spans 1333 kilometers across 13 cities.
This symbolic journey, concluding on September 10th—World Suicide Prevention Day, aims to highlight the urgent need to reduce suicide rates and promote mental health support across Sri Lanka.
The Bikeathon is an initiative of CCCline 1333, a free, confidential, 24/7 telephone crisis support service available nationwide. Staffed by trained crisis supporters, CCCline 1333 follows the proven Lifeline Australia model, providing high-quality emotional assistance to individuals dealing with stress, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts.
Every day in Sri Lanka, 8 to 10 lives are lost to suicide. For each one, as many as 30 may attempt and survive. CCCline 1333 exists to offer these individuals a safe, non-judgmental space to talk and find hope. Since its launch in 2009 under the CCC Foundation—which stands for Courage, Compassion, and Commitment—the service receives an average of 5,000 calls per month, with numbers typically doubling following the Bikeathon.
During the 13-day “Ride to Save Lives”, the CCCline team will host community engagement sessions in each destination city. These discussions will focus on understanding mental health triggers, recognizing signs of distress, breaking stigma, and encouraging individuals to seek help without fear or shame.
