Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa called on the Indian Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel, on Thursday (28).
According to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, Minister Jayatissa, currently on a visit to India, engaged in a cordial discussion on bilateral healthcare services with the Indian State officials.
They held in-depth talks on key areas, including strengthening Sri Lanka’s primary healthcare system, improving pharmaceutical supply chains, advancing digital health infrastructure, and acquiring modern technological equipment for healthcare services.
Minister Nadda informed his Sri Lankan counterpart, Minister Jayatissa, that the Indian government is implementing a program to establish one primary healthcare centre for every 3,000 to 5,000 people, aimed at addressing the challenge of non-communicable diseases.
He further noted that approximately 150,000 such centres have already been established, and efforts are underway to enhance their quality and services further.
During his visit, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa is expected to observe India’s ongoing initiatives in establishing and upgrading primary healthcare centres. (Newswire)
