The gunman wanted in connection with the shooting incident near the Navinna Junction on High-Level Road in Maharagama on 06th August has been apprehended.
Two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle had opened fire on a person who was standing close to Navinna Junction within the Maharagama Police Division. The suspects had fled the scene after the shooting.
The Western Province South Crimes Division launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the Police, based on a tip-off, a team of officers from the Western Province South Crimes Division apprehended a suspect in Kottawa town last night.
The suspect, a 39-year-old resident of Kiribathgoda, is believed to be the gunman involved in the crime.
Based on information revealed during questioning, authorities recovered a foreign-manufactured shotgun and three 12-gauge cartridges from the suspect’s residence.
The Western Province South Crimes Division is continuing further investigations. (Newswire)
