The Sri Lankan government today felicitated Indonesian police officers who supported the operation to capture five of Sri Lanka’s most wanted underworld figures in Jakarta.
The Indonesian officials arrived in Colombo this evening along with the arrested suspects.
Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala visited the Bandaranaike International Airport to extend the government’s gratitude for their cooperation in the joint operation.
The five suspects, including underworld leader Kehelbaddara Padme, were immediately handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under heavy security. They were then transported to Colombo for further investigations.
The arrests were the outcome of a coordinated effort between the Sri Lanka Police, the CID, and Indonesian law enforcement, aimed at dismantling organized crime networks operating across borders. (Newswire)
