A man was killed and another injured in a shooting near the Wennappuwa Police Station on Sunday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 10.30 a.m. in the Wewa Road area when a group arriving in a car rammed into a motorcycle and then attacked the two riders with sharp weapons before opening fire.
One victim, who sustained gunshot injuries, died at the scene, while the other managed to escape with injuries. Police said the attackers had used a revolver in the shooting.
According to investigators, the victims had just returned after signing at the Wennappuwa Police Station in connection with an ongoing High Court case. The deceased was due to receive a court ruling on September 9.
