Ranil Govt phosphate exports : SC to hear FR petition
The Supreme Court has granted permission to proceed with a fundamental rights petition against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and others, over alleged irregular phosphate exports from the Eppawala deposit. Filed by the Center for Environmental Justice, the petition claims phosphate was sold to favoured companies at below-market rates, causing financial losses. The case is set for hearing on March 9, 2026.
