The government has approved the recruitment of 554 officers to address staff shortages in the Prisons Department.
According to Prisons Commissioner and Media Spokesman Jagath Weerasinghe, the vacancies were officially published in the Government Gazette on Aug. 29, 2025.
The new intake includes 409 male prison guards, 70 female prison guards, 55 Grade II male jailers, 7 Grade II female jailers, 10 Grade II male rehabilitation officers, and 3 Grade II female rehabilitation officers. (Newswire)
