A suspect linked to underworld figure “Bako Saman” was arrested in Maharagama while allegedly preparing to assassinate Nadun Chinthaka, also known as “Harak Kata,” by disguising himself as a journalist, police said.
The arrest was carried out today (02) by the Western Province North Crimes Division. Investigations revealed that the suspect, an employee of a state institution had planned the attack under instructions from underworld leader Kehelbaddara Padme.
At the time of the arrest, police recovered a revolver and a destroyed video camera.
Police said the suspect had been tasked with infiltrating a court premises where Harak Kata is being held under custody. (Newswire)
