The Supreme Court has directed the Inspector General of Police to issue strict instructions to all police officers regarding the treatment of minors in custody.

According to the order, any child taken into police custody must be presented to his or her parents or guardians within six hours of arrest. The Court further ruled that children must be shown to their parents before being produced before a magistrate.

The ruling aims to strengthen child protection procedures within the law enforcement system and ensure the rights of minors are safeguarded during legal processes. (Newswire)
