Two individuals have been reported dead in separate road accidents in the Hungama and Kalpitiya areas on Monday.
According to the Police, a 79-year-old motorcyclist from Ranna died after a bus collided with his motorcycle from behind on the Tissa–Matara main road.
The injured rider was first admitted to the Ranna Hospital and later transferred to Tangalle Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
The bus driver has been arrested, while the Hungama Police is conducting investigations.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old youth from Ettale was killed in a road accident in Kalpitiya yesterday.
According to the Police, the teenage pedestrian had been hit by a car travelling from Palaviya to Kalpitiya at Ettale junction.
The victim was admitted to Kalpitiya Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car has been arrested, while the Kalpitiya Police are conducting investigations. (Newswire)
