‘Kehelbaddara Padme’ operated ICE factory in SL : Police Minister
A crystal methamphetamine (ICE) production facility has been covertly run in Nuwara Eliya, allegedly funded by underworld figure Mandinu Padmasiri, alias ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’, according to Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala. Authorities found that over 2,000 kilos of chemicals had been imported and used in a rented house for the production. Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill now law
Speaker of Parliament Jagath Wickramaratne has certified the Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill, which was passed with amendments on August 19, 2025. Now enacted as the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, No. 17 of 2025, the law establishes a single regulatory body to oversee gaming operations in Sri Lanka. It repeals the Betting on Horse-Racing Ordinance, Gaming Ordinance, and the Casino Business (Regulation) Act. The new Authority will regulate both local and offshore gaming, including operations in Colombo Port City and on ships.
AG’s Dept to file indictments in over 20 cases of state asset misuse

Sri Lankan karate team misses Asian Championship after visa delay

Customs agrees to release 506 detained BYD electric vehicles
