Sri Lanka to establish diplomatic ties with Antigua and Barbuda

The Cabinet has approved a proposal to establish formal diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Antigua and Barbuda.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the move is aimed at strengthening friendship and cooperation in political, socio-economic, and cultural fields, while securing mutual benefits for both nations.

Sri Lanka had earlier initiated diplomatic ties with 13 countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region, and Antigua and Barbuda remained the last on the list. 

The agreement will be signed to formally commence relations between the two countries. (Newswire)
