Sri Lanka to appoint four female DIGs of Police simultaneously

For the first time in Sri Lanka, four women are set to be appointed as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIG) at the same time.

The simultaneous appointments, effective January 1, 2025, were approved by the National Police Commission and confirmed by Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya.

The new DIGs are Darshika Kumari, Padmini Weerasuriya, Renuka Jayasundara, and Nishani Seneviratne. Three of them began their police careers in 1997 as probationary assistant superintendents. (NewsWire)
