A 26-year-old man was killed in a shooting near the Mahawatta clock tower in the Grandpass police division last night (5).
Police said two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at the victim before fleeing.
The victim, a resident of Kelaniya, succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
Police believe a revolver-type firearm was used, though the motive for the attack has not yet been ascertained.
Meanwhile, another shooting was reported in the Panchikawatta area of Maradana, where a 44-year-old person was injured. He has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
Police have launched further investigations to apprehend the suspects. (NewsWire)
